I can’t say I was expecting much out of this device only because it’s both a receiver and transmitter, you usually only get the receive function at this price. The sound on it was impressively good, compared to the apple dongle this device actually sounds cleaner. This is impressive because the apple dongle is known for having a very clean sound. This device gives you very slightly reduced bass and increased treble, it’s very slight but it noticeably improves the clarity. Imaging and soundstage are also improved over the apple dongle. I’m not sure what codec it uses for apple but the sound is pretty good. The max volume is about the same as the apple dongle.I wasn’t sure how the transmit function would work on a device like this because it doesn’t have a screen. I actually had a device a while back that had the same function but I never used because I couldn’t figure it out. Turns out that reading the manual is sometimes necessary. To pair for transmit you just set the switch to TX and turn the device on. You then get your audio device and enter pairing mode, both devices will pair automatically without the need of a screen or selecting anything.The TX function will transmit what is being input using the AUX connector. The function works fine but it’s not as good as the receiver function. TX has noticeable background noise like static and the sound is not as clean but it’s still very usable. If you want a better TX function then a device that uses a USB signal or optical signal for input would be a better choice but for a quick portable Bluetooth adapter then this is perfectly fine.The only downsides the device has are that it uses micro USB for charging and that it doesn’t have its own volume buttons. Overall for the price I think it’s pretty good because of the clean sound and both the receive and transmit functions. It does sound better than my old mpow receiver.
